Plans, sprints and milestones
Plan work over time with sprints, milestones and the Planning tab.
Plans schedule work over time. orchit has three sizes of plan, each one fitting inside the next:
| Plan | Length | For |
|---|---|---|
| Milestone | Weeks or months | A big goal, such as "Public beta". |
| Sprint | 1 to 4 weeks | A focused stretch of work inside a milestone. |
| Huddle | 1 to 3 days | A short push inside a sprint. |
A plan can span cards from several modules.
The Planning tab
Open Plan in the workspace sidebar. On the left is the backlog: cards not yet in a plan. On the right are your plans. Switch between milestones, sprints and huddles there, and show archived plans when you need them.
Plan the work
Create a plan from the New card on the plans side. Give it a name, a length (a preset, or your own dates), the modules it spans, an owner and a goal. Then drag cards from the backlog onto it. On a phone, use Move to….
Tip
Drag cards from the backlog straight onto the New card to create a plan with them already in it.
A card from a module the plan doesn't cover is flagged, so nothing slips in by accident.
Run a sprint
Start a sprint once it has at least one card, and work on its cards from its Board. orchit tracks its health as on track, at risk, off track or ready to close. End the sprint when it's done.
Archive or delete
Archiving keeps a plan and its history out of the way, and you can restore it later. End a running sprint before you archive it. Only a plan that hasn't started and has no cards can be deleted.
You can also ask an agent: "Plan a two-week sprint with the overdue bugs." It drafts the sprint and its cards for you to review.
