Team and sharing
Invite your team
Bring people into your organization or a workspace.
There are two ways to bring people in, and many teams use both:
| Invite to | Gives them | Who can |
|---|---|---|
| A workspace (or part of one) | Access to that workspace, a module, a list or a card | People who can share it |
| Your organization | Membership of your company on orchit, with an organization role | Owners and admins |
Invite people to a workspace
Inviting someone to a workspace is the same as sharing it with them. From the Workspaces page, choose Share on the workspace, then add their email, a role and a team seat. Choose Member to give someone only certain modules. They get an email invitation, and show as pending until they accept.
You can also add teammates' emails in the team step when you create a workspace. To invite someone to just one module, list or card, share that instead. See Sharing and access.
Important
Every invited person takes a seat. When your plan has no free seats, orchit tells you before you send anything. Free a seat, or upgrade.
Invite people to your organization
Organization invitations need an organization (see Profile and settings). You can:
- Invite by email from Users on the dashboard, choosing each person's permission: viewer, editor or admin.
- Share a join link (Settings → Members → Invite via link). Anyone with an address on your company domain can use it to join.
- Create an account for someone on your domain, with a temporary password (Settings → Members → Add member). This needs a verified domain.
Invitations nobody has accepted are listed under Settings → Members, where you can resend or cancel them. A resent link lasts 3 days.
Accept an invitation
Open the link in your invitation email and accept it. If you don't have an account yet, you'll create one with the invited address. If you're signed in with a different address, switch to the one that was invited. Workspace invitations also wait for you at the top of the Workspaces page.
An expired invitation can't be used. Ask whoever invited you to send a new one.
When your company already uses orchit
An account on your work address belongs to your company's organization. If you sign up before anyone invites you, orchit says you're not a member yet: ask one of its admins to invite you. Some addresses, such as ones with a "+" in them, need an admin's approval before they can join.
