Boards and cards
Labels and lanes
Tag cards with labels and group big pieces of work into lanes.
Labels and lanes both sort cards, but they answer different questions.
| Lane | Label | |
|---|---|---|
| Answers | What outcome is this for? | What kind of thing is this? |
| Examples | "Q3 launch", "New website", "Hiring" | "urgent", "design", "customer request" |
| Reaches | Cards in any module of the workspace | Cards in one module (or one list) |
| Best for | Following a big goal across teams | Quick tags inside a team's work |
Lanes
You usually pick a workspace's lanes when you create it, and you can add more any time from the Lane menu in a board's toolbar. Describe a lane to Orchit AI, or create one with a name, colour and description.
Put a card in a lane from its Lane field. Then use the Lane menu to show one lane's cards, or group the board by lane to see each one as a column. A lane's menu also lets you update, duplicate or delete it.
Labels
Add labels from the Label menu in a board's toolbar, or right on a card: type a new name in its labels field and create it. A label is shared by every list in its module unless you keep it to one list.
Use the Label menu or a filter to show only labelled cards, or group the board by labels.
Note
Labels belong to a module, so open a module to add them. Only people who can edit the module can add labels.
