Boards and cards

Boards and views

Switch between views, filter, group and search the cards of a list.

Every list can be viewed in several ways. The toolbar above the board decides which lists you see, how they're grouped and filtered, and how each card looks. Your choices are your own, and they don't change the board for anyone else.

Views

View Best for
Kanban Moving cards through stages by dragging them between columns.
List A sortable table with the columns you choose, and quick adding.
MindMap Seeing how work branches and connects.
Gantt Chart Planning dated work over time.
Calendar Cards on the days they're due.
Timeline A long, scrolling view of dated work.

Switch views with the icons at the right of the toolbar.

Group the board

Group: decides what the columns stand for: status (the most common), assignee, owner, due date, lane, labels, or any of the module's own fields such as priority. You can also create a grouping of your own.

The + at the top of a column creates the card in that column. Under a status it starts in that status, under a person it's assigned to them, and under a due date it's due in that range.

You can rename columns, reorder them, change a status's colour, and add or delete columns from the board itself.

Note

A column can be locked for a card when its process has no way to get there from where the card is. The column says "No transition from…". See Process and statuses.

Filter narrows the board by people, priority, status, card type, plan (milestone, sprint or huddle), dates, labels, or the module's own fields. A badge shows how many filters are on, and Clear filters removes them. Search finds cards by text.

When you've changed the view, Reset view takes you back to the default.

Choose what cards show

In Kanban, Show on card sets what each card displays, such as assignee, due date, priority, process step, comments, attachments and any field. Set it for yourself, or use what each card type shows by default.

View only?

If you can see a board but not change it, a View only chip appears in the toolbar. Click it to request editor access. See Sharing and access.
